Homecoming (October 8-9, 2010)

Dear Oak Ridge Alumni, Family & Friends,

On behalf of the 159th Corp of Cadets, staff, faculty and Board of Trustees, I would like to extend an invitation to you and your family to join us for our annual Homecoming celebration, festivities and your class reunions.  This year’s event is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, October 8-9, 2010.  Homecoming is a wonderful opportunity to visit the Ridge, renew old friendships, meet new people and spend time reminiscing about your experience at Oak Ridge.  It’s a time for you to visit campus and see the improvements that have been made, hear about our accomplishments; i.e., 19th straight year we can boast 99-percent college acceptance for our senior class, over $1,000,000 raised in the Annual Fund, and much more.        

There are several activities planned to help keep you engaged and entertained during the week-end.  The activities you’re accustomed to are still in place; President’s Reception, golf outing at Pine Knolls in Kernersville, Corps Parade, picnic luncheon and an evening of dinner and music on Saturday night.  Also…back by popular demand, we’ll have an alumni “knock out” drill competition on the blacktop, and get back in the classroom with Major Barbera for ORMA trivia – a chance to test your knowledge on all things Oak Ridge!  Also…plan to visit the museum and see what an impressive display we have.  And, visit The North Carolina Room.  This expansion project showcases a collection of information and displays recognizing all of the Military Schools that have existed in North Carolina.      

The success of Homecoming 2010 depends largely on your participation and involvement.  Remember, homecoming is open to everyone; ALL alumni, parents, friends, family, etc.  Please  spread the word and encourage your fellow classmates to attend this year’s Homecoming festivities.  Several alumni have already stepped up and joined the 2010 Homecoming Planning Committee.  If you’re interested in supporting the week-end in any way, please contact Terrill Sandiford in the Development and Alumni Affairs Office at (336) 643-4131, ext. 196.
